Hostess 550 buffered nonintelligent serial controller offers theperformance of an intelligent controller without increased cost orcomplexity. Hostess 550 is for use in ISA-compatible systems. Onboard16550 UARTs provide data buffering, which reduces system interrupts andincreases system throughput. The Hostess 550 controller can connect four,eight, or sixteen asynchronous serial devices, such as terminals andprinters, to a single PC expansion slot. To increase users beyond 16,install up to four controllers in a system for a capacity of 64 ports.Select from RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and RS-232 Current Loop interfaceswith DB9, DB25, or RJ45 connectors. Software device drivers and updatesare available at no charge. Hostess 550 is backed by a 30-day trial, afive-year warranty, and lifetime support.
